Day Trip To Lynton and Lynmouth

14th July

We drove the Bailey down to the charming towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. Lynton, perched high on a cliff above the seaside town of Lynmouth. A stunning drive across Exmoor, testing the compactness of the motorhome to it's fullest extent on the narrow country lanes.  We tested parking again, and took  the Cliff Railway, the highest and steepest totally water powered railway in the world, to take us down to Lynmouth.

We looked around Lynmouth and explored the Glen Lyn Gorge, where the once destructive waters of the East Lyn River now provide hydroelectric power for the village.

To round off our day day trip, we drove to The Valley of The Rocks and made our way back to the campsite via Countisbury Hill and Porlock Hill, one seriously steep hill!
